Aug 24th; 1 week until school begins

Hello Everyone,

Today I went into DMS to do a little more preparations for next week.  I am very excited to share with you our new web-based keyboarding system, edutyping.  No more Type To Learn for us at least this year.  I will continue to work both at home and at school so that our first week will go smoothly.

I did a little school shopping today with my daughter.  31 stores are now open at the Warwick Mall which makes things much easier for us. 

I have a paper due on Sept. 14th on using digital tools in the classroom which I have also been working on.

08/13/10

Today is Friday the 13th and I'm excited as I moved a little further along with this technology class.  I have bought new speakers for our classroom as well as a digitized recorder where I will be using to download podcasts onto my wiki.  This is exciting and I see much potential that I will be sharing with all of you shortly. 

The beach was glorious today and our summer fun is coming to an end shortly.  Enjoy.

Day 3

Today, I read chapter 3 of my text book on blogs, wikis, and podcasts.  I am taking notes and have lots of ideas on how I may implement the use of blogs in my classroom.  The book does suggest that you keep it simple at first.

I also attended some training today for new a new web-based keyboarding program that we will be using this year.  I am excited to show you all of these new tools.  While meeting with the trainer, we talked about having him attend our classroom both through the internet as well as in person.  I will be setting that up once we are back in school.

Day 2 Post

We are wrapping up day 2 of the summer technology class.  It is a bit overwhelming as there is sooooo much to learn and things move very quickly. 

Today, we created a wiki which I'll be showing in class as well as some very cool software and websites that allow me to capture screen information to use as a teaching tool as well as capturing audio as well.

Signing off for now as all of this needs to be processed a bit more.

End of Day 1 post

We learned many new digital tools today.  I have created a poll; so please take it.   I am hoping to show you a poll site where you can create a poll and anyone anywhere can take it instantly if they know about it.  Very cool.

I have learned about google reader and have brought information from different technology news sites into one area.

There are many different tools to share with you during the upcoming year.

I love blogging picture

1st day of class

Today was the first day of the summer technology class that I'm taking through J&W Harbourside Campus.  It was difficult thinking about going back to school after being off and relaxed for so long, but also it was exciting to think about learning new things as well.  I hope you feel that same way on your first day of school too.

We are learning about setting up blogs today and I plan on showing and using these blogs with you.  Hopefully, it will be a new tool for you to learn and make your computer class a little more exciting for you.

Maybe we will be able to have each of you set up your own blog so be thinking about what theme you might like to write about going forward.
